There goes the country, Texas can now secede.

I watched the end of the election last night, and man was I sad.  I did not expect McCain to win, but I was just hoping that someone who was pro-choice would not make it to office.  And in case you were wondering, 'pro-choice' is really 'pro-murder' to put it in today's terms.  Biblically speaking, it is a guarantee that it will get worse as end-times get nearer....  I just don't like the decisions to come.  There will be more rants to come, so I guess that I should save it for later.

I have been busy doing things for the last few weeks.  catching up....  I went home a couple weeks ago to vote and hang out with my lab, Holly.  Then back to school to work on school stuff and make the occasional trip to  America's Best Coffee to get come hot chocolate.

I am an uncle for the third time as of yesterday.  Greg and Gina had their first daughter, Ava Claire Rowe.  Scott and Jessica just had their second daughter, Hayden Kathryn Rowe.  I have spent some time with both of them, but have to post a couple pictures of them.  I do not have a picture with Hayden yet, but I do have a picture of her.

Other than school and family.....  I have been really excited for the church (FBC Irving).  They are puting in their new sound system, and I helped design it.  Although I don't think I will be able to be there for the first Sunday, I am really excited to be able to run it for a while when I do get back.  They will probably have to hire someone to get through the first Sunday.  Either way, I am really excited to see the outcome of over a year of hard work.

On Monday I had the privilege to go to a product demonstration for the Midas Pro 6.  It was a 2 hour demonstration with a rep from Bosch (Midas's Owner).  It was amazing.  Not a bad console for $100,000.

I am headed to Houston to go to the Worship FX conference at the convention center.  400+ exhibitors that are all pro media companies.  It should be fun.  I will try to post details after I go.

around.....around......around.

So, what does Brad do when he is not posting on this blog??? well, given that I have a lot of time to do that since i do not update a lot here.... let me tell you a little about what I do.

This summer I worked with houston's first baptist church during their renovation. This is a picture of what it looked like on their first day back in the sanctuary:

Other than that, I went to a Dave Matthews Band concert.... no, 2 concerts in 24 hours. It was nothing short of amazing and I wish I could go once a week.

my view:

I then came back to school. first baptist church of irving just went through a similar (smaller by far) renovation like HFBC did. this is some pre post from that church.

pre:post:
Other than that, I am taking classes and studying hard to make this last year my best. I eagerly await the new Dave Matthews CD next month..... anyone want to buy it for me as a random present??? Oh well, I didn't think so. I leave you with this... me, right now. thanks for reading.

deleted.

Sarah,

You want me to delete this blog because I do not use it. Now, What if I actually used it? What if I actually posted every once in a while?

Here is a post just to prove Sarah wrong in her quest to prove that I will never post again.

Things are going good. I am at work right now. I recently completed a job for Houston's First Baptist Church in their children's department. Basically, I installed computers, T.V.'s and audio for a welcome center. It was a nice little job. I spent quite a while working on that project. When I figure out how to get the pictures off my camera, I will post some here. When that job was done last Friday, I flew to Dallas to assist Blake with the move to the gym at First Irving while the sanctuary is being remodeled. It was a fun little trip. I came home more tired than I have been in a while.

Good news! I gave in and bought a Playstation 3. It is pretty fun. I have not been able to play it much... maybe after summer school and before classes. I got MLB 08, and the Gran Trismo 5. Great games. Any suggestions for new games?

Batman was amazing. I am not too sad that Heath died (not in the media's "end of the world" sense, anyway), but I am sad that there will not be another Joker like him. He did a great job. If you get the chance, go see it. now.

still alive

For those of you who actually read this, yes.... I am still alive. I have been really busy with school and work stuff. I am taking 3 classes this summer through HCC and DBU online. I am also working at Houston's First Baptist Church in the audio department. I have now worked for Kingsland, Second, First Irving, and now Houston's first. And that doesn't include all the other churches I have worked with on a contract basis. weird, I know.

Anyway, I have been trying to find some new music. If any of you have any ideas, please let me know so I can go download it. Dave Matthews Band August 15th & 16th. I am very excited about all of that. Nathan Kolodziej and I got Blake a ticket to go wtih us. We figured that he is one of the best audio and lighting shows on the road today, and Blake needs to see that in person. Also, it's Dave Matthews..... need any other reason?

Congrats to Josh and Gilda on the new house. We will have to have a little party in July or August. It is only an hour and a half you know....

I think that is about it for me right now. I have to get up in less than 7 hours for class then work. Have a great night everyone. Also, go download some Dewey Cox on iTunes.

thinking

Innovation is a funny thing. I have been thinking about a few things lately, my future mainly.

I have had the privilege to read up on Steve Jobs. For those of you who do not know who he is.... Steve Jobs (in short) is the founder of Apple Computers and was the owner of Pixar until the Disney corporation bought them out. Currently he is the head of the Apple company and the single largest share owner of the Disney Corporation. Now, why would I be doing research on this guy? Simple, he is almost by definition, Innovation. Back when he created Apple (Macintosh), he started out with a simple desire. His desire was to create a type of technology that was new, exciting and left a future to expand. Later on in he career, he was taken a little back when he was forced to leave his company, Apple. However, he kept moving because he was passonate about what he did. Later on, because of his efforts and hard work, he has become the leader in innovation in the computer and technology industry.

This has been on my mind lately especially because I am starting to get toward the end of my educational career and needing to beginning to step into my life-long career. I love the industry that I am in right now because technology what what excites me and what I understand. But, just like any other college student, I also have worries that as much as I love what I do, what if I cannot make a living doing it and what if everyone else is better than I am? I have been able to come to some conclusions about these concerns.

First off, doing media in the field of church related ministries or businesses/venues is what I want to do, and money should not stop me. The only reason that you are not able to make a living in the media industry is that they don't think that they have the knowledge or experience to compete with those who do. I have learned many things from my dad (more than he knows), including the need to be confident in what I am doing, and the desire to be the best at what I do. Although I do not have the background that some do in media, I have made it my goal to get experience and knowledge from everywhere I see to become more marketable.
It is this drive that has allowed me to do such things as own a media company and work in New York City as the head of audio production for a broadway show. So, how does this apply to Steve Jobs? Well, simple. Steve Jobs has made it his goal in his career to become better at something than anyone else in his market. He has taken chances and risks to get to where he is right now. It is inspiring to see people like Steve Jobs, Dave Matthews, and even my dad who take things that they enjoy doing and make them into more than a hobby. To take what they are passionate about and use the life experience and wisdom they have incurred over their lives to encourage people like me to do what I love. "Do something you love, and you will never work a day in your life." That is what I am trying to do. Everyone is excited about graduating and moving on in life to a career, but I know that it is much more than that. I get to work with technology which is ever-growing and has endless possibilities.

Almost 22 years old, still have a world of experience ahead of me... but the world is not happening to me, I am happening to the world.

p.s. sorry if this post is a little weird, but I am feeling a little inspired.. and it's my blog.

also, I thought you might enjoy this picture.

the sick sunday.

what happens when you wake up and feel sick but really wish you could go to church? Well, simple, iTunes podcasting. It is a great thing. I don't usually download sermons cause i don't usually listen to them more than once if i understood it when i heard it first. i have decided a few things. first off, i like school, but i really would like to have the consistancy of normal day to day life. second, dave matthews band is calming to me. i dont know why, it just is. third, i miss my yellow labrador. and finally, i want some jamba juice. I have been spending today trying to feel better. but now all i want is some jamba juice. hmmm... i might go get some right now. so, for now, i will leave you a picture of what i look like at the moment.

Houseboating

It's about 10:30 here in Austin... along with all of you who are reading this in the central time zone. I have traveled to the lake with the family for the weekend. We left on Friday night and are staying until Monday morning. Great news though.... I GOT OPENING DAY ASTROS TICKETS! Nathan Kolodziej are heading to the game tomorrow night. I got the tickets on ebay, which by the way I think I may become addicted to now. I have never been to an opening day for the Astros. Although Morgan Ensberg is now a Yankee, I still love going to the park and enjoying all the sights and sounds of baseball.

I have had 5 day weekends every week since January, but have not really done much with them. I am hoping as the semester winds down, I will be able to go visit people that I do not see much.

On a bright note, Congrats Gina! I am very excited to become an uncle again. BBB2. I hope its a boy so that I can take him to Astros games next season... or the season after that.

alright, i think that is all that is on my mind right now. I can tell you all more about astros games and the houseboat when I leave and miss it more. but as for now, I am here and am enjoying life. Drink a Dr. Pepper, head out to your local lake, and enjoy things. peace out!

p.s. knock knock.
(who's there?)
interrupting cow
(interrup..) MOOO!
